PFR Ventures has published the term sheet of the PFR Biznest FIZ programme, which is open for consultation in the coming weeks. The objective is to support Business Angels by creating co-investment funds. Investments in companies will be contributed 50/50 by PFR Biznest FIZ working in collaboration with financial intermediaries and by Business Angels. Innovative companies at seed and growth stage will have access to repayable funding close to PLN 500 million. Individual investments will be up to PLN 4 million per company.
“Business Angel funding typically bridges the capital gap between money raised from family and friends and funding from a venture capital fund; as such, it is crucial to the innovation ecosystem,” said Maciej Ćwikiewicz, Vice President of PFR Ventures.
Financial intermediaries can review the draft term sheets published on the PFR Ventures website. The selected financial intermediaries will select and implement investments in companies using funding from PFR Biznest FIZ and Business Angels and activate them. Eligible as Business Angels is anyone who has free cash and wants to actively participate in the development of investment projects.
“We believe that the proposed structure of co-investment fund will be the most efficient instrument to stimulate the Business Angel community in Poland at its current stage of development. We want to substantially increase the amount of funding and the number of Business Angels active in Poland in the next few years,” said Maciej Ćwikiewicz.
With their experience, competences and contacts, Business Angels who co-invest together with PFR Biznest FIZ will provide smart money to companies, largely enhancing their chances of a commercial success.
“According to research, companies supported by Business Angels stand a better chance to survive. Business Angels have extensive experience in business. They are current or former owners and managers of companies who can support start-ups in the key areas. They provide more than capital: they contribute skills, experience, business contacts, and intangible assets,” said Marcin Nowak, Investment Manager responsible for PFR Biznest FIZ.
The PFR Biznest FIZ consultation process is open for three weeks, including three consultation and information sessions: Friday, 23 June; Wednesday, 28 June; Friday, 6 July. The meetings will be streamed live on the PFR Ventures website.
